Sedalia Area Event

The Glass Menagerie

February 16, 2012
7:30 PM

Members of the State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will present Tennessee Williams’ family drama “The Glass Menagerie” Feb. 15-19 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

This four-character, autobiographical memory play is the tale of the Wingfield family. Amanda is a remnant of Southern gentility who lives in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son Tom and daughter Laura, who is crippled. Amanda strives to give meaning to their lives, but her methods are ineffective and irritating. As narrator, Tom desperately tries to describe his lost relationships with his family and to escape the painful grip of his past.

Regular performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15-18; admission is $8 for the public and free for SFCC students, faculty and staff. Tickets are $15 for a Feb. 18 dinner theater; dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. A matinee free to anyone 60 or older will be presented at 2 p.m. Feb. 19.

Parental guidance is suggested.

For tickets, call the box office at 530-5814 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays or email tickets@sfccmo.edu. Tickets can also be purchased online at sfccmo.edu/thearts.

Wheelchair seating is available in designated areas upon request by Feb. 8.
