Week-long summer arts day camp for children ages 6-10 who are not normally able to participate in or share the benefits of the arts. Blue Ribbon Concert
Make plans now to attend the Blue Ribbon Concert and Dinner featuring the Sedalia Concert Band’s final performance of the summer. Dinner will be served starting at 6 pm on the veranda, and includes Tyson grilled chicken leg quarters, hotdogs and other great picnic food. The Sedalia Concert Band will play inside Convention Hall at 7:30. Proceeds will go to the Sedalia Concert Band, and one-half to be set aside for the initial phase of the citywide bicycle/pedestrian trail project now in the planning stages. The Blue Ribbon Committee’s mission is to further the vision of making Sedalia the Blue Ribbon place to live, to learn, to work and to visit. Bike MS: Kansas City Ride 2008
Join the movement toward a world free of MS at Bike MS 2008. Our 25th annual cycling event for multiple sclerosis will be held September 6 & 7 and draw more than 2,000 participants. Starting at Raymore-Peculiar High School, the ride is designed as a challenging but casual event for people of all skill levels. Day One offers three options: the traditional route of approximately 80 miles, the Century Loop that takes riders on a 100-mile journey, or a more leisurely route of approximately 25 miles that loops back to the start line. This year’s ride features an entertaining overnight party at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Mo. The weekend will include catered meals, frequent rest stops with food and water, encouragement from volunteers, and much more. Last year, more than $1 million was raised to help the 25,000 people affected by MS in the eastern Kansas and western Missouri. In 2008, we plan to raise even more. Don’t miss this journey to a cure! State Fair Community College: 40th Anniversary Kickoff
State Fair Community College is celebrating its 40th Anniversary throughout the 2008-2009 school year with the theme "Strong Roots, Stronger Future". The kickoff event will entail a ribbon cutting ceremony and building dedication for the new Science & Allied Health Center. The Alzheimer's Associaton 2008 Sedalia Memory Walk is a chance for families and friends to get on the MOVE to end Alzheimer's. The walk is approx. 1 mile long, with an optional shortcut. Walker incentive prizes, snacks, door prizes provided. All procees benefit the Mid-Missouri Chapter and the services they provide to area families and patients affected with Alzheimer's disease.
