Leavenworth Bus Tour\nFriday\, June 10\, 2022 \nSedalia\, Missouri (May 12\, 2022) \nThe Heard Memorial Club House board of directors will sponsor a bus tour to Ft. Leavenworth\, Kansas on Friday\, June 10\, 2022. \nThe fundraising trip includes transportation\, lunch\, tips\, all admission charges\, an Army guide\, and entertainment. \nThe comfortable motorcoach will leave Thompson Hills Shopping Center at 7:30 a.m. with a professional driver. There is a restroom on board. A government issued ID (driver’s license or Missouri ID) will be required to enter Ft. Leavenworth property. \nThe motorcoach will arrive at Leavenworth mid-morning. Included with the Army tour guide is the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum\, Ft. Leavenworth’s Buffalo Soldier Monument\, Chapel and Memorial to Custer’s Regiment\, National Cemetery established by Abraham Lincoln in 1862\, Rookery (the old Disciplinary Barracks)\, Frontier Army Museum\, U.S. Army Command\, and General Staff College. Ruts of the Oregon and Santa Fe Trails will be visited. \nA catered lunch will be included at the Riverfront Community Center (a former train station) served by the “Harvey Girls”. Entertainment will be provided by a barbershop group dressed in prison stripes. \nThe motorcoach will arrive back in Sedalia approximately 6 p.m. \nProceeds from the trip will help preserve the Heard House. The Heard Memorial Club House at 200 West Broadway is a two-story\, buff brick\, classical revival house. Built in 1906 as a residence for John and Lillian Heard\, the property was entrusted by Lillian Heard in 1935 for use by Sorosis Club and Helen G. Steele Music Club as a permanent club house to be used for educational and charitable purposes. This home remains close to the same design as when it was built at the beginning of the twentieth century with a few exceptions. \nThe Sorosis Club\, the second oldest women’s organization in Missouri\, established in 1889\, focuses on self-improvement and education. The Helen G. Steele Music Club\, established in 1893\, began as a music club that encouraged music education in the schools. It was instrumental in organizing the Sedalia Symphony\, the second oldest symphony west of the Mississippi. \nThe Heard House board continually plans and conducts fundraising to address the needs of the Heard Memorial Club House and property. All proceeds from this event will go toward the upkeep of the Heard Memorial Club House. SUMMARY:Parent Meeting in preparation for 'Matilda' auditions
DESCRIPTION:Announcing our summer Junior Theatre programming! \nSUMMER MUSICAL: Roald Dahl’s Matilda Jr. The Musical! \nThe production is for students aged 9-18.\nImportant dates:\nParent meetings: May 2 at 6:30 OR May 7 at 11:00.\nParents/guardians/responsible adult MUST attend one of these meetings for their student to participate in the program. You will receive the audition packet and information packet and meet the production team. You will also sign up for an audition slot.\nAuditions: May 11 and 12\, 6-8:30\, callbacks on May 13\nYou will sign up for an audition slot during the parent meetings.\nPerformance dates: June 24 and 25 at 7:30 and June 26 at 2:00\nStrike: June 26 after the performance\nFees: $125 for actors and $80 for crew\nFees are due at auditions. If your student is not cast or declines the offered role\, fees will be returned. Fee includes one (1) complimentary ticket\, one t-shirt and one script. \nWe will have a “minis” program for students 3-8 during this production. \nPLAY IN A WEEK:\nStudents will write\, direct\, rehearse and perform an original script in ONE WEEK. Students may opt to participate in only one aspect (writing team OR actor) or multiple aspects!\nDates: July 29-August 6\nParent meeting: TBA but will be earlier than normal to account for the time sensitive nature of this production.\nFees: $50 per student. Includes 1 complimentary ticket and 1 t-shirt. (will probably also include some snacks and coffee)\nWe are currently seeking students who are interested in the director and head writer positions. \nOur Jr Theatre team this summer: Lucy Lemke Clark\, Michelle Gilger\, Carl Hutcherson\, Amber Reith Hutcherson\, and Chelsea Turner

SUMMARY:SFCC Ag Club to hold Tractor Cruise  April 30
DESCRIPTION:State Fair Community College’s Ag Club will hold its first Tractor Cruise fundraiser on Saturday\, April 30\, with a round trip starting at the Sedalia campus to Green Ridge. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Drivers will meet at 9 a.m.\, and the cruise will begin at 9:30 a.m. \nCost is $30 and $15 for FFA members. Lunch will be provided. Tractors have a minimum 10 mph requirement\, and drivers must hold valid driver’s license. No duals\, implements or trailers allowed. \nRegistration will take place the day of the event. The club accepts cash or checks only.
